I drink the beer that I brew myself. Right now I have an American brown ale, a smoked porter, a Scottish 50 shilling, a Belgian triple, a pre-prohibition style American pilsner, and a medieval beer called "gruit" (made with herbs instead of hops).
I cant believe how popular the cheap light beers are. I guess cheap sells.
I have said many times in my life that most people who claim to be beer drinkers don't actually like beer. I think they want to drink beer for whatever reason (social reasons, etc.,), so they drink that "lite" stuff that kind of looks like beer and mostly tastes like water.
It seems like Red Oak is getting harder to find, at least at the places I frequent. A couple of years ago it was on tap in most places, but not so much any more (most likely the result of the recent increase of bigger craft brews expanding into the state and places only have so many taps available). I have heard rumors that they are going to be bottling, which would be nice.
I prefer the Battlefield they brew over the regular Red Oak, myself.
My fridge currently has Bad Penny (Big Boss - local) and Harpoon IPA (Boston). I think I like Big Boss's Belgian-style beer, Hell's Belle, a bit more than the Bad Penny (a Brown Ale). I started drinking Harpoon when I lived in Boston, and was thrilled when it started to become available here. I prefer an IPA to most other beers.
If I'm out and about, I'll drink CPA and Red Oak on draft.
