Hi.

My husband and I are relocating to the Raleigh area from Florida. We have a two year old daughter and would like some ideas on neighborhoods to look at that have some kids, lower crime and good schools. I am in the medical field and he is in sales (so it doesn't matter to him).

Any help would be appreciated!

We would probably want to rent a house until we are there for awhile to make sure we pick the right area. Rentals there, seem to be very cheap for what people would pay here. Our mortgage here is $3k!

I can give you some areas to look at. Others will chime in with info on specific neighborhoods. Consider the following areas:
 • Apex
 • Western sections of Cary
 • Southwestern portions of Durham
 • Chapel Hill
These locations are very safe and contain some good schools. They are all excellent locations for people in the medical field, as they are near major medical facilities.

Default Where to move in Triangle

Lychelle,

We moved from Central Florida 11 years ago (with kids) to the Cary Area and love it! Cary is know for low crime and good schools. However, Cary isn't the only great place to live in this area. You'll probably want to consider where your husband will be working. Having a young child, he may want to be fairly close so he can have more quality time with your daughter. Second, you'll want to consider the schools. Go to www.wcpss.net to view school information. Moderator cut: tos violation

Brier Creek is a nice neighborhood... though some will slam it.

Location really doesn't get any better. Smack dab in the middle of the Triangle, easily accessible to everything. Though the neighborhood does have its fair share of chain shops & restaurants, there are also some locally-owned eateries mixed in. And it is pretty convenient to have Target, EarthFare (sorta a Whole Foods wanna-be), & a 'regular' grocery store all so close by.

It's also nice that there are sidewalks & such... the neighborhood is designed to be pedestrian-friendly.
