Anyone familiar with the Ashley Woods neighborhood?
Hello!
Looking for a house and really want a nice, friendly, kid-filled neighborhood. Does anyone know anything about Ashley Woods in West Cary? The good, the bad, etc...
And I don't think it has a pool, are there any pool clubs nearby?
TIA!

Homes are by DR Horton and David Weekly.
Check for hardboard/Masonite siding and Polybutylene piping.
No pool.
Google Map of Ashley Woods.
540 will be far enough west of Ashley Woods that it will not negatively impact the neighborhood, IMO.
I don't think you want to back up to NC 55. Traffic noise is dramatic when you back to the highway.
Great proximity to the Harris Teeter and Ace Hardware on the corner.
Great access to Beaver Creek Shopping in Apex.
Nice Pond.

Thanks Mike!
Completely ignorant question - when you say check for hardboard/Masonite siding and Polybutylene piping - does that mean I want them or don't want them?

The homes may be either, as Ashley Woods was built out over several years while hardboard siding and polybutylene pipe were commonly used, and then were being replaced with other materials.
You would prefer not to have either, but I don't consider either to be a deal-breaker. Properly maintained and painted hardboard siding has a long life, although it will require more frequent painting and replacing a few boards here and there.
You at least should know what you are buying, via good disclosure and/or investigation.
Awareness and diligent inspection are keys to getting comfortable with either product.

We were very interested in a house in Ashley Woods but unfortunately it was way before we were truly ready to buy. I liked the development a lot, it seemed nice and quiet, and was a mature development with trees and a nice pond.
You should be aware that it is a small development, and the several times I drove around in there I did not see that many people and/or kids outside. That's just anecdotal evidence, of course, so you can take it for what it's worth! :-)

I don't live too far from Ashley Woods. It's a nice development, homes seem to be very well maintained. I think it is a great location - 5 minutes to Beaver Creek, 15 minutes to Southpoint or RTP. Personally, I prefer a smaller neighborhood!

Map Error correction...
I guess a Google Map of Ashley Woods should actually put you into Ashley Woods.
