To some posters: If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

And just why can't people express their opinions? Really...there is nothing wrong with honesty.

Folks who come to a forum and ask questions, want honest opinions. If all they get is the Chamber of Commerce smiley faces, what's the point.
Maybe it's those who give only the Chamber of Commerce opinion that are the ones who are trying to convince themselves.
I'd rather someone tell me the truth to my face; then I'll sift it all out and make my own judgment. If you give me a negative take on something, that is a red flag to check out and verify.
We should have a poll and ask how many want honest opinions, or how many want only the cheerleaders.

Unfortunately, too many people confuse unnecessarily derogatory commentary with honesty.
Honesty might also include, without a stretch, a more diplomatic statement like, "I prefer the look of XYZ Homes in SoAndSo. They embody a more accurate vision of somthin-or-udder."
Poor Mo'ville2007, I think, might have been a victim of very aggressive and subjective "honesty" that called Mo's house tacky, boring, and a slap to sensibilities.
Mo, If you live in Kitts Creek... Well, I just might really enjoy your house. And I sure hope you do!
pssst...Wanna join the chamber?

Thanks Mike Your comments are right on. . . being honest in a tactful and polite way would be much better received. Everyone IS entitled to share an opinion, but sometimes people should think about just who else might be reading it. And, as I recall, this particular thread was simply started to share some pictures of the neighborhood, not as an open forum for ridicule. I love my house and neighborhood. I chose it. I would never publicly rip on another neighborhood if I knew that residents might be reading.
Anyways,I think I'll throw in the towel on this one. I am done trying to defend myself.

Some unkown gave me the following negative reputation:
"You have gone beyond giving an opinion and have gotten openly insulting. I for one am glad you are NY and are not my neighbor. How do you like them apples?"
Response: The reason why I'm not your neighbor is because I have higher standards.

I think you've just run into a bit of Southern culture that can drive transplants nuts at times.
What some see as upfrount honesty (you don't like the homes) others view as rudeness....even if they have the same opinion (though they may not in this case)!

Kits Creek
Just to make you all aware, not only is Kitts Creek affected by planes, but it is affected by a train in front of the neighborhhod running parallel to Highway 54 and I-540 which is scheduled to open this summer. There will also be a road running behind the neighborhood that will connect to the Durham Freeway. Don't mean to sound negative about the neighborhood. That is not my intention. These are disclosures that you need to be aware of.

I was simply expressing an opinion; apparently someone took it to heart. I'm glad that you understand Desdemona.
Perhaps my opinion wouldn't have been received so strongly had I not attached the photos. I may have shattered the reality of those who thought they had legitimate Victorians.
Here are some more genuine Victorians...
