I thought this was great news too until I read this:
"An undisclosed number of those jobs are moving from MetLife operations in Lowell and Boston, Mass.; Somerset, N.J.; Bloomfield, Conn.; Johnstown, Pa.; Warwick, R.I.; and Aliso Viejo and Irvine, Calif., officials said. Spokesman John Calagna said the company employs about 23,000 U.S. administrative staffers, and the consolidation will allow teams to work together in the same location while cutting MetLife's real estate presence."
So they are relocating quite a few people and those positions will make up a portion of the 1300 openings for Cary??
the jobs are relocating but the people who currently have them might not be. Usually most people do not relocate when their jobs move to another state.

More likely to relocate now than in other years given the depressed market where they now work.

Depends how desirable the area is where the jobs go.

Even still many jobs will be created/supplemented by the process of constructing the Cary complex.

I work for a company that has also moved hundreds of positions from the northeast to RDU in the past several years. Yes, some people move with the job, but many do not. It may depend on how attractive MetLife makes the relocation package offered to those whose positions are moving.

The deal closed under the McCrory administration but was begun under the Perdue administration -- last summer, in fact.
