I am from LI.. Port Jefferson.. I am confused as to what town I would like..
I love Port Jefferson, but need to scale down my 10K taxes.. I know I will miss the water, but there is always Vacation..
Any NC towns like Port Jefferson without the water..LOL..Or huntington Village? or Babylon Village? Or East hampton? I don't want to be tucked away in a rural area..Looking for 300K.. I am considering Kitts Creek in morrisville or a townhouse in Cary, Carpenter Village...
Here on LI I could tell a would be buyer what town's I dislike.. Seems like on most of the threads here everybody likes all towns..I would be afraid to live in Brentwood LI, but would love to own in Brookville..( LOL )
I don't like Brentwood, But I do like Brookville.. Know what I mean LI'drs?
Where did you all end up? Thanks

This is only my opinion based on 3-4 trips to the area . . .
I tried to equate LI towns to RDU towns based solely on overall feel, here you go . . .
Wake Forest = Garden City/Huntington
Cary = Babylon Village/Setauket/Three Villages but not as spread out
Youngsville (where we bought) = Sound Avenue area out east - way out
Fuquay Varina = Ridge/Manorville
Chapel Hill = Brookville
South East Raleigh (some of Garner & some of Zebulon) = Brentwood but nicer
Apex = Sayville/Oakdale
I am sure some LIers who are down in the RDU area will disagree with a few of my equations but I thought I would throw in thoughts on the issue.

I totally agree.
A fellow LIer friend was down this week- she got even more specific, & I must agree:
Capital Blvd = Jericho Tpke
Creedmor Rd = Split Rock Rd- (Great Neck, Manhasset, Syossett vibe)
Leesville area = north fork
She & her kids were freaked out by the similarities.
I guess I am used to it now!

Hi, We left our dream home in St. James a little over a year ago with three children 9, 11 and 17 . I had some homesickness but never enough to consider moving back. It is a wonderful place to raise a family and the affordability factor makes it possible to have more family time. The Triangle area really seems a lot like LI in so many ways, just less pretentious with more hope for building a business. We really feel that our children also have a future and when they grow up, they will be able to purchase a home of their own! I work as a realtor relocating LI's such as yourself and really enjoy it. Good luck and if Moderator cut: realtor soliciting

Thanks Lynn, I love St. James.. The taxes are insane though.. I am single, so school's aren't a problem. I guess I just really want to know how the Kitts Creek dev in Morrisville compares to say where I live now. Port Jeff or even St. James.. Pretty similar..I will prob pm you when I get closer.. I am figuring a few months..Thanks so much..

Congats, jkmeca11. I notice your "Location" says "soon to be Youngsville, NC." What made you choose that town over others (and which ones have you looked at)? What kind of house did you get (you need not give an exact address).
Congrats again!
