moving to north carolina
My husband and I are moving to nc. He will be working in Fayetteville at the very northermost part of town. Is it even feasible to think of moving up north to Fuquay Varina or Holly Springs? he doesn't mind a long commute.

Not for work in Fayetteville.
No public transit here.

He could likely figure on 45 minutes to Fuquay and an hour to Holly Springs.
There are folks doing it every day.

It would certainly be worth it to live in Fuquay over Fayettville!

That's true if you consider crime.
Fayetteville will expand a lot when the base gains many new service members. Budget constraints could impact the city and county's ability to cope unless the feds kick in some money.
Still, if gas goes back up, the commute may not be a good idea.

I think it's totally feasible if one doesn't mind the commute. I used to work with a guy who lived in Fayetteville and commuted to North Raleigh every single day. I think it took him an hour and 15 from there but it should be at least 30 minutes shorter from Fuquay.

I will second this. Fayetteville is not a place you want to live.

I used to live in Fayetteville. I now make the commute to Fayetteville from Johnston county. It has been worth the move for me. I have a co-worker that commutes from Apex. Our drives are about 45-55 minutes.

I live in Holly Springs and have a neighbor who works in Fayetteville. They used to live there but just moved here a few months ago and she said something at a recent gathering about how the commute was well worth it when someone asked about the drive back and forth. Having just moved to NC about six months ago, I'm not familiar with anything about Fayetteville except for its location, just relaying their opinion
