My DH is an avid hunter and we are unhappy with our current butcher.
Any of you know of somebody that runs a quality business?

I did a search online and found Country Butchers in Zebulon but I was hoping for a place that was a bit closer in (we live in Cary).

Thanks everybody!

You don't do that yourself ;-) I know someone in Durham that hunts all the time here and has forever. I can find out from him who he uses.

You live in Cary and you eat deer meat ???? J/K

I do my own butchering, but I do know some people that have used the above mentioned butcher and have been happy (I will say that they use too much sage in their sausage for me).

I don't know of any other legit butchers in the area. Sorry.

In Johnston County, on Hwy 242 is a country store called Mac's. They are great with butchering deer meat. Their address is 4432 NC Hwy 242, 919-894-3648. They have been around forever, and will do a great job. They are about 40 minutes from Cary.

I've heard good things about Blackwells in Oxford. Anyone ever used them for venison?

Old Thread, I know, but i did take mine to A1 Custom meats in Clayton. The main reason was that A1 didn't require the deer to be skinned, while Country Butcher in Zebulon required that it be skinned. I didn't have anywhere convenient to do it at my hunting lease and somehow I think my Hayes Barton Neighbors would resent me doing it in the apartments front yard.
