I'm a single mother of three girls 6,7,9 and I'm looking to relocate from Nashville,TN to Raleigh, NC. I was just wondering if someone can tell me what life is like in Raleigh. Is it a good place to raise a family? How is the public school system? How are the jobs in the administrative field, do they pay good? I will also be transferring to a 4 year college, are there any good suggestions?
Raleigh is a great place for raising a family! It's quite a bit smaller than Nashville, but large enough to have plenty to do. Colleges in the area are NC State University, Meredith College, Peace College, Shaw University, NC Central, Duke, University of North Carolina, Cambell University. Not sure how much admininstrative jobs pay although I would think it is comparable to Nashville. One thing to keep in mind is that NC has a state income tax while Tennessee does not. So if you take a job with similar pay you are actually taking a 7.5% paycut.
