We're moving and will need our own washer and dryer at the new place wherever that may be. I know for sure that we won't be able to buy a set upon move in and I know a friend that rented a set. Does anyone have any experience with doing this? Was it good or bad? What about rent to own options? Any particular businesses recommended to patronize or stay away from? I'm open to DMs if you'd prefer.

I don't have a recommendation, but maybe you could find a deal on craigslist for a used set. My friends bought a used set when they moved to Morrisville and paid next to nothing for it. I would stay away from rent to own because I've heard using these places (and obviously paying by CC) actually hurts your credit score.

We used Azuma for our apartment - 33 bucks a month for a basic washer and dryer.

Rather than rent-to-own, why not get a cheap set on one of those specials from Sears etc that are no payments for 24 months? If you do that, and pay 40/month for 2 years on your bill, you end up at $960 which is more than enough to get you a good w/d set.

I would consider buying from Sears with a year payment plan.
Some places have 1 year- 0% interest- same as cash type deals .
Don't forget to check Lowes/Home Depot for closeout/dent and scratch
deals.

Also finding a good used deal would be great.

I usually beleive in only buying things if you have the cash but in this case
the money you would spend at the laundrymat and on gas would probably be more than the payment on your own Washer/Dryer.

We had a budget model Whirlpool that lasted without any servive for 15 years!!

Our complex will arrange a rental of about $40/month for washer + dryer.

I agree that you should be able to get a good set on craigslist...
Best Wishes!
