It was mentioned in a previous note that sometimes Creedmoor is not welcoming to people not from around here. That is a true statement. By profession I am a sales guy and on most days pretty good. However, I have failed miserably at promoting the notion of Creedmoor being an "Inclusive Community." Any ideas how I can do better? I love Creedmoor so far. I mean, we have no kids here with us so school is not a problem. I love the open area and it is not far from shopping. I guess I just love NC. I mean, the people here are so kind compared to where I moved from. It was a big change of atmosphere. I dont hear noise like in MD and NJ. No horns blowing for no reason, no sirens always passing. Loving it. Just miss the family and it is a bit harder finding work though.

Allow me to test the waters here... My wife and I are thinking of Creedmoor as a great place to buy a home and raise our child to be. Please convince us we should buy there instead of say.... Cary??... Our requirements are, at LEAST .50 acre (yes, i know you cannot find this land in Cary), friendly community with some cultural activities within a 10 minute drive... Budget? $518,000 Thanks! |

I genuinely think we can have the best of both worlds - the country life with access to big city stuff in 30 minutes. We sit in the critical area of the Falls Lake Watershed (Raleigh's water supply). Therefore, our development requirements are more stringent than most. Additionally, this is mostly why Hwy 50 (Creedmoor Rd) is still 2-lane past 540, its goes over Falls Lake. For me this is a tremendous advantage in working towards quality development versus quantity via larger lots, thus perserving the country atmosphere. Who knows, maybe I am all wrong. The country life has been good to me and the family. We built a home, raised our kids and now moving into the next phase of caring for aging parents. Creedmoor works for me. $518K should get you a whole lot of house in our area. Mayor Moss |

I was doing reserach on Creedmoor and nice area. I did a little research on property taxes and at least on the material I downloaded 06-07, this city and county combined to be pretty high on property taxes 1.40 which was higher than most areas in Wake County. I live in Wilson and we have excellent city services and ours is 1.27. Are there specific reasons or did I get the wrong data?
Property Tax Rates and Latest Year of Revaluation I was also reading through this thread and I know time has passed, but I only found 3 homes for sale in Golden Pond. Are there other areas to view for homes 200-300k in this area both in city and surrounding staying close to 85 and access to both Wake Forest and Treyburn Park area? (no emails please) |

Passing Time - I know its been a month since your post. Are you still inquiring? If so, there are several other new developments in the city - Davenport, Paddington, Southerby to name a few. In Davenport $270,000 plus can get you 3000 sq/ft. And believe me when I tell you, you can't beat it here despite a slightly higher tax rate. Within 30-40 minutes you are anywhere in Raleigh or Durham area. All kinds of things to do. I moved from Fayetteville area and this is so much better IMHO.

We live in the Wynngate community in Creedmoor, built by Centex. Right across the street the developer who ownes the Wynngate community is starting another community by a different builder. Don't know anything yet, they just started it this week. Will be nice though - there will be a clubhouse, pool, and recreation area to be shared by both communities.

Exit 204 off I-85, very convenient. Husband commutes to RTP, 30 mins. We use to live in Cary, too congested, too transient, felt more like a big apartment community than a town. Schools not as good as Oxfords in my opinion. Daughter had 1st yr teacher in Cary, teacher in Oxford was excellent with over 18 years experience teaching and it showed. Son had poor teacher in Cary who was just waiting to retire (one more year) and the administration had too many "growth" issues to concern themselves with my son's teacher. Oxford was very welcoming to us as a family, you get more home for the money and unlike many places that advertise small town charm, Oxford delivers. By the way I am a northerner and also a big city girl, but I wouldn't trade Oxford for any other place. Check out OxfordPark.com they have up to 1/2 acre homesites if that is what your looking for in a neighborhood with fabulous amenities. Just my two sense.
