Thumbs up Durham Magazine

I was wondering how many people have had the chance to read the new Durham Magazine yet? It's only on it's third issue, and I really like it. This month there's a great spread about all the different choice schools around the Triangle, including Charter and Magnets, and even some boarding schools all the way out to the mountains. There's also a great list of restaurants, inlcuding some that will be opening soon. I think it's actually a really great tool for people moving into the area.

Where do you get it? Pay or Free? I always like checking out the local magazines.

(And just so no one beats me to it, Durham is a cesspool, the crime sucks, does the magazine tell you how to dodge bullets, and I don't feel safe in Durham because everyone there is a criminal.)

I haven't seen the new one yet (3rd issue), but I will definitely be on the lookout for it. Durham Magazine has a lot of great information!

A previous issue had a lot of resources listing local repair services, i.e., lawn mower repair, appliance repair, etc.

The April/May issue has a great article on where the area's top chefs enjoy dining.

It's about $4.oo, and I've seen it mostly in Barnes & Noble. And, I think they do have an article on the proper way to wear your bullet proof vest

There was a segment on the publisher of the magazine the other day on The State of Things on WUNC. Meet Dan Shannon — North Carolina Public Radio WUNC
That was the first I'd heard of the magazine; I'll have to check it out.

In fact, inside the front cover are instructions for converting it into a bulletproof vest when you're finished reading. We eco-chic beatniks in Durham are all about recycling!

Apparently we are all dirtbags according to some Cary posters so I hope the magazine has a regular feature entitled "dirtbag of the month"

(I haven't seen it yet)

Right next to Lazy Beatnik of the Month. Bull City Rising was both in this month's issue.
