question about Craigslist
I'm not sure where to ask this. It's unrelated to NC but I know I'll get a quick answer here.
If you are selling something on Craigslist, do you let them come to your house or do you meet somewhere? What's the standard?
Thanks!

I've done both. If it's small, I will meet them in a public place, like a Best Buy parking lot or something. If it's an appliance or something large, I let them come to my house. I usually ensure that a friend is home with me.

I definitely think it depends on what you're selling.
I sold my car on craigslist and met all potential buyers in a Target parking lot where there were plenty of people around. If it was something I couldn't remove from my home, I would make sure to post as many pictures as possible and try to only allow serious potential buyers to come to my house. I would also make sure someone else was there with me.

Yeah, normally I would too, but I've been a little freaked out lately for some reason. I'm not into strangers at my house. We are meeting at the Harris Teeter. Thanks for the prompt responses!!

I usually meet them in parking lot of a shopping center near my house. Safer, fool proof.

Toys for tots
I’ve bought and sold a ton of stuff off of Craig’s List but I never let the people come to my house. I have no hesitation on going to the other person place, though.
Matter of Fact, I just drove out to Mebane yesterday to pick up a couple of Nintendo GameCubes that a guy was giving away for free. I usually pick up stuff like that to repair and then give to needy children for Christmas. So… If anybody has a spare GameCube, even if it’s broken, that they no longer want just let me know and I’ll come by to pick it up. Thanks!

Good info.
I'm still cleaning out from my move from a house to an apartment.
Last items to get rid of are a pair of blanket chests (ie. foot-of-bed chests with aromatic cedar lining). I'm about to go to Craigslist, but was worried about safety for a single female, even in Cary.

It all depends on the item as others have said, but I try if at all possible to meet in a public place, or at least some place that you can't be traced specifically to.
One thing i do with every transaction is that I speak to them on the phone - I never finalize arrangements via email...just can get a little better feeling that way.
