Today was such a nice day that I decided to dust the camera off and go out and get some shots of the North Raleigh / Wake Forest Area. I think most of the shots are actually within North Raleigh, but a few may venture into Wake Forest territory. I took a drive on NC 98 along the North Raleigh / Wake Forest border and back down Six Forks Road taking some pictures along the way. This is one of my favorite areas to take an afternoon drive. There are lots of great trees, views of Falls Lake, and combination of newer and older neighborhoods scattered about.
I tried to get a variety of shots including a few from some random neighborhoods, a Falls Lake fishing area, some farm shots, as well as some small unique shops along Six Forks Road in North Raleigh. In general I was trying to show the variety scenes you will experience while driving along the roads in that area. I still have a lot of exploring to do myself so I’m sure I missed some stuff.
My route is show in blue in the map below along with some markers of where I took shots. You can click on the link below the map to go to an interactive version which provides more detail about where each picture was taken. Enjoy!

NRG what camera do you use?? your pictures are always so nice. Do you use any kind of editing software? I am looking to purchase my first DSLR Nikon d90, what do you think. Please DM me if you don't mind. I know its not a photography forum, I am just curious.
Lovely photos. Very close to where I live. I often can't believe how fortunate I am to reside in such a beautiful location. I can see the stars at night without light pollution!
Our fate lies not within our star but within ourselves

It is wonderful to see the stars at night isn’t it? It reminds me of when I was a kid and each star represented a different opportunity of how my life might turn out. Back then I was a prince and the universe was my domain.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I grew up in that area when it was much much more rural, and used to buy candy at Bayleaf USA (now the bait & tackle shop).
Thanks NRG! You know how I'm always looking for woodsy neighborhoods. That Horseshoe Bend would be great! I'm going to check it out. I just can't wait to get there. There are so many places to explore and what I've seen, it's only the tip of the iceberg.
I checked it out. It's considered Wake Forest. There are 2 homes for sale there now.
