public school property is owned by the public so unless there are scheduling conflicts, any school court should be accessible for use if building is open. just call the ones near you.
There is a public rec facility up Alston near NCCU. It is $2 for Durham residents/$2.50 for out-of-towners.
I'm fairly certain that they have an indoor basketball court. I know that they have everything else - indoor pool, racquetball, etc.
I'm in Northwest Raleigh and I am also looking for somewhere to play basketball. I was curious about the North Raleigh Y (on Creedmoore) and Gold's Gym. It looks like both of these places use their gyms for much more than basketball and there are a few slots when games can happen.
Any other suggestions for basketball/gyms in my area?
If you are looking for a court near RTP - there is one just north of Bethesda elementary off Miami Blvd that hosts work league basketball, but Im not sure if they have open gym hours. Otherwise, the closest community center I know of to the sourthern part of RTP at least is Morrisville's Cedar Fork community center, which at least used to have open gym times. There are some in Cary as well, like Bond Park and Herb Young(?) on Academy St.
