The last time the Raleigh area saw a 6 inch snow was February 27, 2004.

In fact, there were several 2-3 inch events that occurred that year from late January through February. Definitely, the snowiest period has seen in the past 4 years. We are certainly overdue.

Haha that dog-in-the-snow video was hilarious. Totally reminded me of Bugs Bunny tunneling. "I should've taken that left turn in Albuquerque"

I agree with what someone earlier said...that January 2000 snow was that "perfect" snow. It was light and fluffy, so it looked nice; but it was also perfect or making snowballs, snowmen (and women, don't want to discriminate), AND amazingly it was firm enough to sled on. There was a culdesac in our neighorhood that was a perfect sledding hill. The road being something that wouldn't be seen for weeks after that; TONS of kids, including mine probably 30; all went sledding down it. Some who didn't have a sled were using the classic cardboard box with a garbage bag, pretty sure I heard there was a girl using lenolium.

I am not a fan of snow, so if we never see a significant snowfall here again, I wouldn't mind.
Experiencing Northeast winters, I don't miss snow at all.
The car will remain in the garage if I were to see snow like that here. I would not venture out on the road with all the crazies, it's bad enough on dry roads.

we also had a 20 incher in 93.
I'm quite certain we never had anything that big until 2000. Can you provide a link/documentation? I don't remember anything over a foot in 20 years and I've lived here my whole life (I know that we got several whoppers in a row in March, 1979, but that's "ancient history" here).

It was...for the first day or two! Not so much when you couldn't get to work for a week afterwards if you were in a neighborhood where the scrapers didn't come!

Yep. I remember the Jan 07 and Feb 07 snow b/c those were my first two months of living here. Jan 08 had snow as well but not as heavy as 07. The Jan 07 and Feb 07 snow seems to be more typical of what you can expect living here (a day of snowing on and off throughout that particular day).

The 20.3 inches that RDU recorded on January 25, 2000 is the all time record snow for a single storm.
