I'll see if I can attach the picture here.

I was living in Cameron Park at the time (no power for 6 days!) of the Ice Storm...and have pictures of the lines at Harris Teeter. Very few workers could make it so they were only letting so many people in at a time.

Well based upon this we will definitely get atleast a 3 inch snowstorm this winter. There hasn't been a 4 year stretch where we didn't get atleast 3 inches of snow in the past 60 years.

We must've been neighbors as I was in the apartments across from St. Mary's. I remember the lines at the store too -- I kept thinking of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome --"Two Men Enter, One Man Leave."

It'd be nice if we got some good snow this year!

Experiencing Northeast winters, I don't miss snow at all.
The car will remain in the garage if I were to see snow like that here. I would not venture out on the road with all the crazies, it's bad enough on dry roads.
Well, like I and other's have said...northerners shouldn't move to NC if they are looking to get away from winter weather altogether. Try Florida!

Definitely not in Raleigh.

20" fell in the mountains perhaps...here are some maps from recent "big'uns" and the 1993 storm uncletupelo was referring to. These are all courtesy of the Local National Weather Service Station website in Raleigh.

Thanks, mm34b, for the tables, very handy! And JQ Public as well--nice to have hard data instead "I think I remember..."

Seems like the WRAL website used to have a page with "records" on it, such as Hi, Lo, and snowfall, for each date of the year, but I coulnd't find it the last time I checked.

Anyway, we're certainly overdue for at least a few inches, IMO.
