Panoramic Photo Development
Howdy,
Does anyone know of a company in the area that can print panoramic photos? My brother took a trip to the Rocky mountains and I would love to print him off a large panoramic picture that he took for Christmas, but I am drawing a blank on where to start.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I would check out Wolf / Ritz Camera. They have locations in Raleigh and Durham and aside from selling cameras they have a top notch photo developing service. It is a little pricier than going to walmart ect but the quality is better IMO and I bet they can assist you with more advanced photo options like panoramic and enlargement shots.

I'd be interested in the answer to this too. I know Wal-Mart has a great pricing structure on big prints, but they do not do panoramic.
One option, though not a perfect one, is to incorporate the pan image onto a standard 3:2 proportioned image, print it out, and then cut it on your own. If you printed on 20x30 you could make yourself a nice 10x30 panoramic print that way.

JW Photo Labs could probably help you out. They are not a chain and can do a lot of things a box store lab cannot do. They also develop things like true BW film and 120 film.
While I have not used their services Sam's Club also offers more developing and printing solutions. I believe they use the same Fuji photolabs as Wal-Mart but just offer different options.
Also, if you are not the owner of the photos you cannot technically ask Walmart or anyone else to print them. It is against copyright. In this case you will be fine, but if they ask say you took the picture (because the shot looks really good they may think a "pro" took it). They should have a waiver you can sign saying the sopyright holder can sue you because you claimed the picture was yours.

Thanks Chuck...
I did pop by Wolf Camera, they said that they 'could' do it, but they actually also recommended JW Photo Lab:
JW Photo Labs
620 N West St
Raleigh, NC 27603
(919) 832-0330
jwphotolabs.com
I may give them a try and I will post the results...
Does anyone have a website that might work also? I found the following online, but I am alittle leary of doing something online if I have not heard anyone actually having success:
myPhotopipe : Panoramic Prints : The online print lab for serious digital photographers nationwide.

You may want to search popphoto.com they might have reviews, although I don't remember any in the print magazine in the past few years.
A lot of places use a very high quailty inkjet printer. You should be safe to use one of those places, Artcow.com may also do them.

The best prices will likely be from other vendors that you reach online. Here's one, just to see the prices. Plus you can do all kinds of fancy things like print on linen, etc.

For such a gift I would make sure I work only with a photographic company (be it online or local). I would not utilize a company whose main business was something other than photography/printing. It's a Xmas gift, you're spending your hard-earned $$, so get great quality by working with a dedicated photo company.

Any suggestions? I definitely want to spend the money because my brother deserves it, I just want to be pointed in the right direction.
