Cary, NC
To those of you who are considering a move to Cary, this is for you......
If you like a place where every house looks the same and has the same color paint (beige);
If you like pretentious people;
If you like lots of traffic during rush hour;
If you like lots of restrictions (both from the town & HOA's);
If you like not having an active & interesting night life;
If you like living in North Carolina, but not want to be near anyone that is actually from here;
If you like peaople that drive slow, don't know how to merge or yeild;
If you like owning a $500,000 home that sits right around the corner from a trailer park,
If you like high taxes (for this area, anyway);
If you like to pay extra for a home, just to say you live in Cary, when you can buy the same home for much less, only 20-30 minutes in any direction;
If you like suburbia in it's most mundane form;
If you like a lack of culture, character, or individuality;
If you want to move here thinking that the cost of living is lower than where you are from, only to realize it's not much cheaper after all;
Then, this place is definitely for you!!!!

LOLOLOL
I live in Cary.
In a house that is not near a trailer park.
That is nowhere near $500K (it's half of that);
on 1/3 acre of land,
with NO HOA!
that doesn't look exactly like any other house on my street.
That was in my budget when I was looking in 2006 and was LESS EXPENSIVE than similar homes in the area I was living in (West Raleigh).
That is in a nice, safe, established neighborhood with mature landscaping.
Your same point could apply to just about any area within 45 min of Raleigh.

Another ignorant Cary Bashing thread. How wildly original. What's next a thread about crime in Durham?
FWIW, I am not flaming the OP for having a differing opinion about Cary. I call the post ignorant because several statements contained within it are factually incorrect (taxes as just one example) or could easily be said about multiple areas of the Triangle or 1,000 other suburban areas of the US and are not unique to Cary in any shape or form.

I guess it was only a matter of time before Exit MA Now spawned a nemesis!

Yeah just change Cary to North Raleigh!
Cary is mostly a sprawl town now. North Raleigh is mostly sprawl now. A lot of people like it. I don't, Nortel obviously doesn't either, but he lacks tact and humor.
Crime in Durham? Is that a hot topic?

Kudos to Nortel for having an honest opinion and not being afraid to express it!!
Nortel may be "bashing" Cary, but, I'm sure a lot you will now be "bashing" him/her. God forbid some one disagrees with you!
I like it here, but, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's not for everyone, but it's just right for me!
I find that people who take the most offense to remarks like Nortel's, do so because they are insecure or unsure of their own decisions.
Now, I guess that since I'm a new member, Ill be called a "TROLL" as well by my own "friendly" neighbors.

I'm assuming a frustrated existing member is behind both of these new accounts.
Hurray for pseudonymity!
And, yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, stereotypes, and, apparently, facts.
