Hey there - we have been living near Brier Creek for several weeks and i just realized that I don't know where the closest hospital/ER is? Anyone know?

Rex Hospital is the closest one.

It's located at the intersection of Blue Ridge Rd. and Lake Boone Trail. If you're heading from Brier Creek, head down Glenwood Ave. towards Crabtree Valley Mall, take a right on Duraleigh Rd. (Millbrook Rd/McDonald's/CVS on the left, Walgreens on the right). After several miles, Duraleigh turns into Blue Ridge Rd. and Rex will be located a few traffic lights down on the left.

I'm directionally challenged so you may have to double check this but...

If you hop on 540 from Brier Creek and go to the Falls of the Neuse Exit (couple of miles), Wake Med's North Raleigh ER is there. I just don't know if it is closer or faster or if I'm totally out of my mind!

It is close between Duke Hospital in Durham and Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Rex is probably 1-2 miles closer by the shortest route, but I'm not sure which you could get to quicker as you can get to Duke with fewer red lights.

Isn't there a Duke medical center in Brier Creek? Is it not an urgent care center?

It's doctor's offices and outpatient services for WakeMed.

I think Rex is actually trying to build a Hospital at Brier Creek, but Durham and Wake are trying to work out some property issues.

I saw signs for an Urgent Care facility next to Red Robin in Brier Creek. Not sure when it is opening. Otherwise I've had to drag myself down to Blue Ridge Road...there are a couple along that strip.

Duke did have an urgent care center in Brier Creek, but they seem to have transformed this into a primary care doctor's office and GI endoscopy center:
Duke Medicine at Brier Creek (Family Medicine) - DukeHealth.org (http://www.dukehealth.org/locations/duke_medicine_brier_creek?search_highlight=brier%2 0creek - broken link)

Wake Med has some office space there and supports it with lab and radiology, but no urgent care at the Brier Creek location. They have applied to create a surgical center there, but no urgent care announced as part of the plan:
WakeMed Brier Creek Medical Park

Rex is expanding in many locations, but Brier Creek isn't one. Rex has an Urgent Care center at its Wakefield Campus, which is 19.4 miles/23 minutes from Brier Creek.
http://www.rexhealth.com/Services_an...and_Locations/

According to Google maps, Rex Hospital is 8.8 miles/17 minutes; WakeMed North is about 12.1 miles/16 minutes from Brier Creek; Duke Medical Center is 13.7 miles/21 minutes.

Smart thinking to scope this out in advance of actually needing it! I don't know exactly where you are, but I used the 70/Brier Creek Parkway intersection for the mileage.

I think the closet hospital would be Duke. You will take TW Alexander and exit right to Hwy 147, from Hwy 147 take Trent and Elba exit and veer left. Go past stop sign, turn right on Erwin Rd, and first left to Duke ER.
