Our family has been talking about adopting a family for Christmas for awhile now but never seemed to do more than just talk about it (sound familiar). This week my husband and some of his coworkers volunteered at the Durham Rescue Mission's Women's and Children Shelter by finishing up some of the rooms. After seeing the needs first hand, it became apparent that we needed to stop talking about it and make it happen. So yesterday I decided to make some calls hoping it wasn't too late. It turns out there is still a great need for sponsors!

We adopted a family with 4 children (twins 8, 11 and 12). I'm looking forward to buying gifts for younger children again since our children are older now.

So I just wanted to let everyone know it's not too late to share Christmas with another family! If you're interested you can try Wake County's Holiday Cheer program, Durham Rescue Mission or the many other organizations out there.

Happy Holidays!

What a lovely idea!!! Good for you guys for helping ones in need! We do a lot with animal shelters since we have 4 rescue dogs. Especially with the foreclosure crisis, people are dumping their animals off at record rates. Shelters always need blankets, food, treats, bleach (to clean the kennel runs), litter, and just the gift of time. Happy holidays!!

That's great to hear that both of you are helping out. It's a shame ppl are dumping their pets. I don't care what situation I was in, I'd NEVER dump my pets. Here's hoping these pets will get a forever home at this holiday season!
