Sorry, can't give any new opinions of HC as I haven't driven through there in a while.

There used to be a site that detailed Cary's plans for Green Level to Durham Rd, but it seems to have been taken down. From what I remember, it was going to be widened and straightened, with a landscaped median and walk/bike lanes. It's been so delayed and funds were pulled from the project, so who knows when it will happen now.

We live in Weycroft and had the same thoughts as you - we were afraid it was going to be all older kids, but we've been pleasantly surprised. There are lots of babies here! Our son is turning 1 in September, there are a bunch of kids who will be in the same grade as him, a year ahead, and a year behind. We've also got a few families expecting right now. Funny how it turned out, but the young kids actually outnumber the older kids.

The latest I heard from the Town of Cary on GLTD Rd is that the section from McCrimmon to Carpenter Fire Station is scheduled to be reconstructed and widened for Spring 2010 (originally scheduled for Spring 2009 but delayed due to the financial crisis). The section from McCrimmon to O'Kelley Chapel is planned to straighten, widen and connect with the section of GLTD after O'Kelley Chapel, but there is no timeframe on that yet. However, that may be changing after the series of recent accidents by Cary Park forced the Town of Cary to do a traffic study on all of GLTD.

Default Don't worry, HC has kids

I looked at a lot of subdivisions in the Cary / Apex area and decided on HC.
I really liked Weycroft but we needed a basement home and HC was more inlne with our budget. HC is starting to pick up momentum as a lot of new homes are going up and new lots have been sold.

As for kids, there is no shortage of kids. We met many families living in HC and almost everyone had children. Lots of kids in the 1 - 5 yr old range.

What is the revised price range for homes currently sold in HC? My price range is between $350k-425k.

Who are the builders in Hortons Creek? Are any of them Energy Star builders? I know that Weycroft is full of Energy Star builders that build energy efficient housing qualifying for the 5% Progress Energy and the $.05/therm (therm is currently around $1) discount from PSNC.

Mike
