I have a job interview in Raleigh & need a safe, cheap place to stay.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Charlotte now and may take the Raleigh job.
If I relocate to Raleigh where is a safe, reasonably priced apt complex to live. I have been reading the apt reviews and some of those places must really be dumps with bugs, crime and maintenance problems. I am a single white female and do not know anyone in Raleigh.
Thanks

Initially, I'd recommend finding a place that is reasonably close to your place of employment. It'll give you time to network with your coworkers and find a place that you might like to stay longer.

Hi,
The job would be for the nc state govt located in downtown Raleigh. Usually downtown areas are not desirable places to live. I have read that Cary is nice and not too far from the city.

Yep, I agree with Daniel. Find a place near your office. You can find an affordable apartment in just about any area of the Triangle.
As far as safetty and quality, no one will be able to guarantee your safety no matter where you go, but I always like to keep this point in mind...you get what you pay for. The average rents in the Triangle are about $600 for a 1 bedroom, $800 for a 2 bedroom, and $1000 for a 3 bedroom. Prices do vary greatly by area (for instance, anything around RTP is generally more expensive). So if you want just an "average" place, this is about what you'll pay. If you want "above average, or luxury," you'll pay a bit more. Any less, then you're probably going to start sacrificing things. Comfort and peace of mind knowing you're living in a "safe" area are usually first on that list.

The Raleigh Apartments are very old, but I think they're cheap and they're safe. RIGHT by Cameron Village, very convenient to shopping, and also to downtown.
