Yes!
Just think, it won't be too long before Holly Springs is just as screwed up and crummy as Wake Forest!
Hooray!

Fuquay seems to be using Garner as a model for development as far as I can see.

I don't live in Fuquay, but, I would definitely NOT compare it to Garner. I have friends in Fuquay and also in Garner, and from what I have seen, Fuquay seems to be way nicer than Garner. I would be more likely to compare Fuquay to Holly Springs, but with a greater selection of retail and dining options.

Hopefully all towns don't feel this way. Better that some do and some try to maintain some aesthetics and quality of life. that way people can choose.

In Tampa (mods, can I change my name, or do I have to start over?), the dominion of the King of Fatburgers is ubiquitous.

I actually like whoppers, but i don't eat them or the other choices because, well, they make you fat and unhealthy.

In the 3 sq mile area around my Alma Mater USF Tampa, we had 4 Burger Kings, and 3-4 Wendy's, McD's, Taco Bell's, Arby's, Applebee's, Friday's, you name it.

Any assembly line food product delivery vehicle Madison avenue pushed, we had.

Not much of a college atmosphere to say the least. Six lane roads with lights every 500 yards, what a joy. No city life, no suburbs, just sprawl.

Just saying, from one who knows, be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

No offense please, by the way. Different people like different things. If you have population growth you'll have plenty of franchises, if that's what you want.

Its also a fact that without planning, you might end up with a town that isn't as convenient and great as you thought it would be.

Just saying, you can't put that toothpaste back in the tube.

I haven't been to Holly springs, but I hope they try to attract businesses with local charm and character to Pittsboro, because that courthouse area is really nice.

I think the growth is out by the Lowe's which is fine and people like them some chain restaurants, but its really nice to mix in some local flavor in stores and restaurants and try to blend in the visual aspect too. A little planning can go a long way and improve property values too.

Burger Kings and McDonalds are going to raise property values? I don't know if that's a long term strategy.

Those businesses moving in was bound to happen. If the citizens didn't want they could petition the city over them, I know in Asheville no one (well, the libs) wanted walmart in the west part of town. So they petitioned it and the city declined their permit to build. HS residents could do the same.

Smart growth is nice but it has to be something the town sticks with. It's going to ruffle some feathers but could work.
