It looks like they've started laying the cable down West Chatham from SW Cary Parkway - good news for me!

Our install was scheduled for today, Sunday 9/20, from 12-2 arrival time. At 9:30, an AT&T tech showed up to disconnect our DSL, stating that the U-Verse tech would be by in a few hours. At 12:30, I checked the online scheduler, which then showed a 1-3 arrival time. At 2:15, a call from AT&T stated that the tech was running "a little behind" - he arrived shortly after 4. We had the gateway and 2 TV's to install - a 3rd jack so that we could move our smaller HD downstairs if desired was not doable, according to the tech. The tech was on-premises for almost 4 hours, and did a very clean install. He ran what he could under the house, going up the outside walls only when necessary. All CAT5e, and all terminated to wall jacks. AT&T provided a Netgear switch next to the RG (which is 2x as big as the DSL modem, BTW), as we needed 3 more ports than were available on the RG. U-Voice came with a, fortunately, compact Belkin UPS.
Originally, we had planned on keeping our DiSH service, just in case the HD quality was, as I had so often read, was not as high as desired. However, I am quite pleased with the HD quality - it is as good as DiSH (which was almost as good as Blu), so tomorrow I will end my 14 years with DiSH. The TotalHome DVR is by Cisco, which is all that the former Bellsouth uses (Motorola for the rest of AT&T). It is very small, but records 87 hours in HD/311 in SD - the secondary receiver is even smaller.
I have not explored much of U-Voice, but the few phone calls I have made (long distance) sounded as good as my former PoTS. Internet is a blazing 18M down and 1.5M up - speed tests range from right on the mark to 5 times faster for down! Latency (a concern for World of Warcraft) was considerably lower/better than with DSL.
Overall, very pleased. I highly recommend U-Verse to anyone who can get it.

Got mine =) 27615 in the North Haven neighborhood off of Six Forks. We're planning on signing up! GOODBYE Time Warner! (not so sad about that)
BTW- U-Verse has the NFL Network which Time Warner so meanly took away a few years back.

Does anyone know when/if Uverse will be available in the Stonebridge area of N. Raleigh? Just north of 540 off of Six Forks. I talked to techs working in the area back in Feb., and they were under the impression that it would be available in March... still waiting. Does anyone else in this general area have the service yet? I've been checking the availability site almost daily, and calling in is almost useless, as you can hear them checking the web...
Thanks,
Paul

Alliance - Aerie Peak
We are in a small subdivision called Dartmoor, east side of Six Forks, north of Celebration, but south of the Forum. The Vrad went in May-ish, and I received e-mail notification in late August (after being told by a DSL PremTech last summer that our neighborhood would likely be passed because we did not fit the demographics - glad he was wrong on that one!).
The web interface for all things U-Verse is really cool and kinda scary at the same time. I can, of course, schedule recordings for my DVR (although much slower slower, scheduling a recording is way cooler on my iPhone), but I can also, on the fly, change all sorts of settings/features/forwarding, for U-Voice (the scary part being that I can track all calls - in and out!)
Anyone who does have an install in N. Raleigh will be lucky to get PremTech Ken Mcallister - he was great. The customer support people I have spoken with for U-Verse (and there have been many) are all MUCH friendlier than anyone I ever dealt with concerning BS FastAccess - these people actually sound like they enjoy working with people! In fact, the only negative I have experienced was the 10 hours between when our DSL got pulled yesterday morning and the time that Ken got us back up (and it would have been sooner, but he just assumed that since I was sitting with my laptop that I had already connected, when I was in fact waiting to get the go-ahead from him )
