I bet they found all of this out through MySpace and Facebook, too.

That's the other thing... I remember what rumors and innuendo were like when I was in high school. I can only imagine how quickly things spread now, information both good and bad.

Yeah, you know, I just Googled "Panther Creek bomb threat" and down near the end of the page I saw a choice for a MySpace page (that I didn't click on because I'm at work and that is forbidden!) where some kid is posting that "nothing new ever happens there except, like, a bomb threat or sumthin... lol"

So this is what we've become.

I hope we have not gotten to the point where some kid who would like to start holiday break a day early can start rumors and effectively call off school.

When we get back from break, we have only nine instructional days before EOCs start. On a block schedule, a school day is a lot to miss. I can assure you that we will be having class tomorrow and that my students will not notice a difference between it and any other school day.

Agreed - Roscomac - my AP kids have a major exam tomorrow and my other kids will be having a quiz and doing Blue Diamond assessments.

If he's fearful - touch base w/ student services and the principal, see what they're thinking - and keep him home if you feel it's best. But don't do it because "no instruction will be happening"!

Our teenager knew about it but was unimpressed and went on in today. I wonder if most of the students went in?

I just wanted to report in that I made it through the day safely!

There were a lot of absences today, but it's hard to say how many there would have been without this non-event.

I don't see anyone complaining about forced bussing in this thread?
