That group is very strict with their boundaries. There are people who have had this problem if they live in Wake Forest on the wrong side of the Wake cty line too. I am in Mebane, but since I am on the Orange cty side, I'm allowed in. Interestingly, because I'm in Orange cty, I'm allowed in both the Triangle and the Alamance groups. If I lived a mile further west, I wouldn't qualify for the Triangle group. I actually prefer the smaller Alamance group because I think it is easier to get to know people in the smaller group and I don't visit the large Triangle group anymore. The Alamance group has grown a lot since I joined it, and I'm confident that the Johnston group will too. I would encourage your wife to try it out.

Just wanted to add that this issue is not specific to the triangle group. I live in Asheville (although I'm moving to Fuquay next month), but last year there was no Asheville group. So, I tried to join one that covered some of the counties next door, but I was told to wait until a group started in my county or start it myself. I think it's the policy of the overall mommies organization to do things this way, not just the local triangle group.

Boocake is absolutely correct. All the mommies groups have to start out somewhere. Charlotte Mommies is HUGE, and that's where the original site admin of TM was from before she started the group here. She could have easily stayed a member of CM or be patient with the growth of TM. I think your wife needs to be grateful that there is a group in her county to join. If you look at the NC map (or maps of MANY other states like NJ where there are NO groups at all) you'll see many counties greyed out next to counties with groups. These are the rules and if she doesn't like them, she's free to start her own thing.

If you don't like the rules of a group, form your own.

So the Triangle is nothing real. It is only an imagined concept if artificial lines have to be drawn to show where it ends.

It's just a geographic term with boundaries....just like cities, counties, towns, states, countries....those sorts of imaginary things.

This one is a bit more informal, but it's the same concept.

Draw a line from NCSU to DUKE to UNC. That is basically what would be considered the real Triangle. Everyone else is just trying to ride on the coattails of the Triangle.

So can we agree that these are all imagined things?

They are human defined things that have no real substance. A state boundary is just a legal definition....the actually 'line' is imaginary....they don't mark state lines like the painted lines on a highway.

The Triangle is considered to be the three county area.....what is so hard or wrong with the concept?

Johnson County has traditionally not wanted to be seen as being part of the NCS, UNC, Duke trilogy....so why are people complaining about this now?

If they wanted to live in the actual Triangle area....they should have moved there. They saw what they wanted in Johnson County, purchased there.
