TreeBee123: not sure what you mean by your question; "There are Southerners in Raleigh?" Did you mean to post this somewhere else? Please explain, thanks
TreeBee was being sarcastic. Many people say that Cary stands for Central Area for Relocated Yankees. I have met many people in Raleigh that are from the South, but just as many people are transplants. The Research Triangle Park is a very good reason for this. And the home prices are also a huge reason.

packfan8019 is on a distinguished road
Well thanks for all the help. We are really looking into NR and Durham. Wake County in general seems really nice, and I saw that the public school system is ranked in the top 5 in the nation. I know that some polls can be wrong though, but if that is the case it is very impressive.

Quick off the cuff question.

When I was much younger I spent a summer in Alabama with cousins who lived there. Now people are people and I got along with everyone for the most part, but life in southern Alabama was much differant then Wisconsin. I know that athletics and such are a big part of life in the South and it worries me because my son is not that type of boy.

He is quite and thoughtfull for the most part. He can raise hell like all young boys, but he will probably be more into art and whatever other than sports. He is only 6 and I am sure he will be just fine, but I worry about that sort of thing.

I saw a post about no Southeners in Wake County, and I was just wondering if this county is really differant than others in NC? If we were to visit other places in NC would we find a culture shock or something? If I say I live in Wake county do other people look down on that? Like if Americans go to Italy they should always say they are Canadian or something like that?

I may not be exspressing myself here well. Basically how "Southern" is NC. I loved my summer in Alabama, but I think Alabama is differant than NC. I consider NC more Mid-Atlantic, and I would be interested in peoples take on that.

I cannot wait to come down and visit. Wisconsin is a tax hell, Milwaukee is a dieing city, I literally have 5 foot snow drifts in my backyard, and sometimes it gets so cold I have to scrap ice off of the INSIDE of my car.

I am done.
