If you want to blame someone, call Viacom!
Viacom has been losing money on their ad sales for these channels. So they want TWC and Brighthouse to either pay more or lose the channels. And since customers ***** everytime their cable rates go up, TW said no. TW did NOT refuse to negotiate with them. They offered to move the channels to another tier. After all, if TW is going to pay more for your channels then they have to recoup the cost somewhere. Viacom said NO. Switching to a dish will not keep you from eventually paying more for these channels either. The cost will come down to you too.

DirecTV must absolutely love TWC right now. Might as well just pull their advertising budget because TWC is doing a better job of promoting for DirecTV than if they purchased it themselves.

Fair point, but like I've said before, I'm sick of getting screwed by TWC. I'm willing to try giving my money to and getting screwed by someone else for a while. Plus getting NFL Sunday Ticket for next season.

Here is a Yahoo link on the story. It doesn't list all that will be affected, but they include MTV, MTV2, CMT, TV Land, Nick, etc.

Good luck with that. We've already gotten a call from a friend who plans to be at our house this afternoon to watch TV because 40 mph winds are forecast here. We've had TWC for over 10 years - cable, internet and phone (as soon as it came available). Never had a problem with it.

I moved into my new house in August and everything has been fabulous except for one thing. The trees in the backyard meant I had to wave bye bye to beloved Directv and sign up with TWC, which is HORRIBLE. Those of you that are defending TWC are crazy. Directv is hands down the better company to use. In 3 years of Directv, I maybe lost my signal a handful of times and never more than a minute or two.
The HD comparison is a joke between the two companies. The TWC HDDVR is a joke and don't even get me started on the whole fiasco with MASN. Im a die hard Baltimore Orioles fan and because of TWC, I have no way of watching them. I would pony up a couple of hundred bucks a year, but thats not even an option.
My only hope and prayer now is to have Directv come back out for a 2nd opinion. But I guess I should wait until the leaves grown back in the Spring. UGH

If it ever gets to that point, that I have to go to someone's house to watch TV because my signal is out, then I'll probably get rid of the TV altogether because that means it's become an addiction.

Like the MLB Extra Innings situation a few weeks ago, the whole MASN thing is ridiculous, too. But what stands out as most moronic to me is that North Carolina, three states away, is considered in the Orioles' TV market and so their games are blacked out here.

I've never had an issue with TWC, but I've only been on the service since I moved here 6 months ago. Prior to that I was with Comcast, who I felt just as ambivalent toward (they also gave me good uninterrupted service but charged me my first unborn child). We'll miss Colbert!

I've NEVER lost signal with TWC. And I don't have to cut down any trees or worry about storms. Not to mention the ugly dish hanging off the house. Every company has its issues, but I've never had bad service from TW in 10 years.
