We live in Durham and love it...the food establishments here are great...although I miss myself some coney dogs and white castle every once in a while If you have prospects down here, I would not hesitate to move ASAP. Let me know if you need any information or anything. Always happy to help.
007... if you're looking for Coney, look up Antonio's Coney Island We just found it, and it's run by Detroiters. They own two locations in the Durham area!
We moved to Raleigh 24 years ago from northern Ohio. As "thirty-somethings", we were both tired of the snow and only seeing the sun 5 times from Thanksgiving to April.
For me the summer heat/humidity was difficult. Aside from that we have absolutely no regrets.
Although, "you never say NEVER", we can't see ourselves going back any time soon.
I am an Ohio native, although I have lived most of my life outside of Ohio. I still enjoy visiting family there, and it will always be considered home.
But after experiencing below zero wind chills in Ohio this past Christmas, I doubt I'll ever
be moving back permanently to live there. Raleigh is like Ohio in some ways and I like
living here, but I lead a boring life and don't ask for or expect too much.

Just visit once a year or so to pick up the local foods and you'll be happy. That 8 hour drive is a pain though!

Starting to regret it...My fiance and I Moved from Michigan 1.5 years ago.
like the area scenery etc. Disappointed with the employment situation
and the cost of living.
Lived in SE Michigan for 25 years, been here for about 2 years and love it. Only thing I miss about MI are the sports teams and the family. Don't miss the horrible weather, bad economy, overpriced real estate, bad roads....
