We have the thermostat at 55 at night as well, which cranks up to 69 before we get up. But we also run the wood stove so it's often a bit warmer than that.

We set ours to 70 during the day if we are home and 68 at night. We like warmth!

I was born and raised in Miami, FL and we tend to keep the heat around 65ish. We had it set around 68 this year, but since we got some cooler temps earlier on, our gas bill got high quicker than the past two years and we turned it down. I have gotten used to it, as well as those little socks with the grippers on the bottom! Oh yes, and a space heater in the bathroom in the morning to make it bearable.

When I visited my parents for the holidays (also from Miami) in northern GA, they had the heat cranked to 74 and I felt like I was being smothered! I turned the ceiling fan on at night so I could sleep.

wow...55? BRRRRRRRRR!
LOL, I keep it at 70 all year long and rarely ever change it. Yesterday my 14 year old who is cold natured said "Mom, it's freezing in here!" I checked the thermostat and sure enough, somehow it was down to 65. We all thought we were popsicles, I can't believe people actually keep it on that temp! I thought 70 was on the conservative side! Guess I was wrong!

I don't mind the winters that much. Which is sorta surprising since I was originally from "northern" California (San Jose). I'm finding that I don't usually run the central heater unless I'm expecting company. I'm looking over at the thermometer right now and it looks like my house is about 55 degrees. I wouldn't mind if it were a little cooler. I'm in a t-shirt/sweats.

If I feel a little chilly, I'll turn up a small space heater.

The summers, on the other hand, it's not uncommon to see electricity bills that are over $400 for the month, which is kinda high considering it's just 1 person (me). I love me some AC!
