Hi!

I am new to this forum and was hoping to get help/info about the best areas outside of Raleigh. My family and I want to relocate to the area and need recommendations on where to buy our house. We are looking for 5+ acres in a nice town within 30 minutes from Raleigh. Any suggestions? The quality of schools are an important factor along with a low crime rate.

Thanks for any advice.

Is the price of the land a consideration?

$$$$$$$ LOL No, seriously, if you want land at reasonable price, you'll have to go further than 30 minutes from Raleigh. Please be more specific. What size house, price range, etc?

Wake Forest is also very nice in my opinion. But so is Garner/Johnston County

I guess the most we would like to spend is around 300K. We would like to get at least 6 acres, including a 3 or 4 bedroom house. Do you think this is possible? What areas would you recommend and why? Thanks!

Again, to be clear:
When you say, "in a town..." do you mean within incorporated town limits.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but you have described something that will be very difficult to find, IMO.

That's a tall order. Can you give more specifics on where in Raleigh you need to be close to? It can take 20-25 minutes to just get from North Raleigh to downtown Raleigh. So saying you want to be within 30 minutes of Raleigh begs the question.....which part?

If you start seeing homes on 6 acres of land at low cost, I would take a long hard look at the schools to make sure they aren't depressing values.

If you provide more specifics you will get better recommendations.

Does the $300K have to include a house?

OK... I am currently living in S. FL with my husband and child. My mom lives in CA (the Bay Area). We, as a family, are looking for a nice piece of land, in a good area (schools, crime rate, etc.) We would like to be close to a major city, such as Raleigh, Durham, or any other nice city in that area. My husband used to live in the mountains outside of Boone many years ago, but I would prefer to be closer to a metro area, but still in the country somewhere. Does that make sense? I would like to be able to drive to a nice city within lets say, 40 - 45 minutes.

We also would like to already have an nice exsisting home on the property. My mom will be building a log home to live with us (this is not includuded in the 300K budget of course). Now.... is this all possible with our budget? And if so, where should we look? I would prefer the Raleigh area over Charlotte, even though I have a brother who lives in Huntersville. He said the school system in his town is not the greatest. Please help. Any advice welcome.

We also will be needing a good realtor in about 1 year to help us find the perfect place! Thanks again.
