location of Hawthorne Place (So. Granville, Co.)?
Hello:
I've been lurking awhile, learning about your lovely area, knowing that someday we might be relocated there, and sure enough....it's going to happen in the next few months. Most homes I can locate on a mapping site, but I can't find Hawthorne Subdiv. homes (Creedmoor address). I read that it was off of Bruce Garner Rd. Can anyone tell me how far past the County line it is located? In one map I can see the start of a subdivision (roads) where Hawthorne might be, but since no street names are given, I don't know....
Anyone know this subdivision?
Many thanks!

It's only about half a mile from the Wake County line. Just past Wake Forest (Far West side of Wake Forest). This road changes name several times from Six Forks Rd (N. Raleigh) to New Light Falls (from Hwy 98 -Wake County) to Bruce Garner Road (Granville County). It is a beautiful development and very close to Falls Lake facilities. Congratulations on your move.

Thank you. Would you know if Hawthorne is the first subdivision past the county line?

If I am recalling it right I think Hawthorne is the first one on the right if you are coming down New Light Road. I live about 10 minutes past that subdivision in South Granville County. Very, very nice subdivision Hawthorne is --- beautiful homes!!

I believe it is. There is the subdivision Sutherland in Wake county and then I believe the next one is Hawthorne- just in Granville County. Very peaceful and beautiful homes.

Lots of beautiful communities up and down that road. I love the feel of the wooded windy road going over he Lake a couple times out there. You get the feeling of being out of the hustle bustle without being too far out at all.

Thanks! I guess I have it pin-pointed on the satellite image then. It threw me off when I saw a pond in the neighorhood but no mention of it in any of the listings (w/ subdiv. info).
Can anyone guess an approx. driving time from that area down to RTP--near TW Alexander and S. Miami Blvd? I'm trying to narrow down how far out in each direction we should be looking. Thanks!

I live near the intersection of New Light Rd. & Old Weaver Trail & work on Miami Blvd - My development (Devonshire) is a few miles south of Hawthorne. It typically takes about 30 minutes to get to that intersection from my house. Add a few minutes if you're going at peak times.
My husband & I LOVE living in this area. The only downside is that it is a little ways to get to the centralized amenities like grocery shopping. But the tradeoff is well worth it! If you have any specific questions about the area, feel free to DM me.

I agree with daisyboat on all accounts. It is about 35 min. I think it is one of the prettiest areas in the Triangle if you like nature and larger lots. My only suggestion is that if you do buy in this area, think about getting a generator. It truly will be a good investment as if/when power goes out in storms (snow that we rarely get, and ice storms.. more common) it can take some time for electric to get back up and running.

Thanks, ladies! That's probably about as far away from work that my husband would want to drive. I'm looking at other areas, too, but for some reason my eyes keep moving back to that area (and I haven't even been there yet). However, the thought of long stretches without power are NOT appealing. I guess I need to be paying more attention to gas appliances--so I can cook something and have hot water at least.
We'll be moving from the very frigid (at the moment) Midwest (central IL). Yesterday we didn't get above 0, and wind chills were about -30; last night we set a record at -17. Funny thing is.....our very first winter in IL, about 15 yrs ago, records were set at -21 in the city near here where we first moved. We're "bookending" our stay in IL with the coldest nights on record. THIS I will not miss.
How cold did it get there during this cold snap? I can't wait for more "southern" winters! I'm originally from Arkansas.
I'm beginning to look forward to NC.....
