A plastic surgeon's association indicated that elective surgeries are way down.

Probably many other elective procedures will suffer the same fate.

I said "mostly". Next would be those you refer to. Many of them didn't have anyone under them, were making a lot, or weren't in the main location of their business group.

Well, a ton of Fidelity folks up here in Merrimac, New Hampshire just got screwed out of their vacation pay when they were let go, after being told by their managers that they'd be getting it in the end. Loads of them saved their vacation time for tough times ahead. They got it, alright! I'm sitting here pondering the meaning of the word, "Fidelity".

My heart sank when I read the title of this post. I was so relieved when I realized its a revival of an older thread!

My Dh was laid off by Fidelity in December 2008, same week of our 1 year living in NC anniversary (we moved from MA - Fidelity relocation package). They rehired him as a consultant starting April 2009. I know of quite a few ppl who got rehired, some as consultants, others full time but at a lower level with a paycut.

Sorry about the vacation pay, that sucks!
