Wondering how much a move from WI to NC might cost, ballpark.
We are planning to come and visit in late March, and if all goes well w may look into buying a home, ect....
I was wondering though if anyone has any idea on how much a moving service might cost from WI to Wake county, NC. We have a 3 bedroom house, and I have no idea of the total weight. Could anyone that used a moving company tell me the cost, so i can try and ballpark it.
Also Does anyone know what the average private school costs in Wake County.
Like I said ballpark figures would be fine.
Thanks!

Our move from a typically furnished 2BR apt from Houston to NC was $5000. My honest advice is to get help loading and unloading, and drive it yourself, you'll save tons of money, and not worry about breakage, damage, and your stuff waiting weeks on end to get there. We got student movers and UHaul when we moved to our house, it was <$300 (granted it was a 1 mile move).
Our long haul move took 10 days, several things were broken, and we 'inherited' someone elses' stuff and lost a box or two. This is due to the fact that they cram everything in to a 18 wheeler, with many other people's stuff, and give no thought as to weighting. It's typical with particleboard furniture that it won't survive a professional move, many of our cheap furniture was damaged.

Agreed. Much of the crap furniture sold now is better donated and replaced at the other end.
Whatever you do, avoid internet moving brokers who will rip you off.

I think a 3-bedroom house would be pretty darn heavy!
Do you already have jobs lined up? I presume so, if you're talking about buying a house here.

I think PODS ran us 3K from GNV, Florida to Triangle NC, plus they stored our two pods on the NC end for a month or two til we got here/closed and prepped the NC house. If you don't want to pack & unload yourself, forget PODs. but if you can pack yourself it's a decent buy; We packed & unloaded ourselves and the pods sat in our driveway for several days while we unpacked at our own pace.
not sure about private school costs in wake.

BTW, our FL house was a small "3BR" ---only 1300 s-f worth of stuff. I think United Van Lines had quoted 5K
