Hello all,

I was looking for a restaurant that plays live music for valentines day. I came across Irregardless, does anyone have any experience or can recommend any others?

I've been to Irregardless 3 or 4 times. The live music always seems to be a jazz duo. The nice thing is that they start earlier in the evening (maybe 6pm).

My boyfriend took me to Irregardless for Valentine's Day last year. They had live violinists and they were great. They would wander around the dining room and play for different tables, but also would play up on a small stage with a pianist (if I remember correctly). It was a very nice experience and the food was excellent. I highly recommend it!

I've been to Maggiano's in Southpoint and they've had a piano & singer in the bar area before. Not sure what the schedule is or what the plan is on valentines day.

My wife and I ate at an Italian restaurant at Brightleaf in Durham that had some nice romantic music last year.

I believe this was the place: Piazza Italia

I looked at Irregardless via googlemaps and the exterior made me question the interior or quality of the food. The website made me think it was a little folksy, is this true?

Folksy? Well. . . . let me put it this way. . . . .It's a safe place to take your parents when they visit but I'd want something nicer if I was taking out my wife for a special occasion. Food is traditional fare. . . .atmosphere is pleasant. . . . prices are reasonable.

I'm not sure what you mean by "folksy". The interior is nice and the food is very good. I wouldn't say that it's folksy, but my definition of that word may be different from yours. People get dressed a little nicer to go there, but you are not required to wear a jacket.

I was intending to take my wife here for valentines, so I was looking for nice romantic atmosphere that had a live band. The website makes me think everyone comes to hang out there.

In any case, any other recommendations for a romantic place for dinner with live music?
