Speaking as a Garner (Wake County Side) resident, I will say that the area is improving. I also wouldn't say it is a place to avoid. What I like about Garner is the easy accessibility to downtown Raleigh, the "small blue collar town" vibe that is pretty diverse, and a feeling of community that I enjoy.
I do not have kids, and I don't ever plan to so I can not speak to the school system.
I saw this in on the NCDOT website, and printed out the suggested map. I don't think we are headed to that area since it's totally katty corner from where my hubby's job is going to be. I like the home prices though!
Looking for some fresh opinions for 2016, if anyone has something to add! We live in Greensboro and may be in for a move due to a job promotion! Thanks and Gracias, Amigos!

So, the job may be in RTP or RDU area, or NW Raleigh?
Rather than areas to avoid, you might think in terms of micro-location.
Not backing up to a busy road or highway, electric transmission lines, undeveloped land with clear development potential, a landfill, sewer plant, commercial development, or flood plain.
I plan to move to Raleigh next year 2018 end of summer. Are there any updates about the locations as of 2017? Has any areas developed in a positive light? I have one middle schooler and one high schooler which schools and areas are best to live?
