Cary ... I was born and raised in the area and Cary was a little "yuppie click" when I moved away. Fifiteen years later I return to find it is now a big "click" of greying yuppies. The whole area is full of nut jobs that carry an air of entitlement. I worked in the area briefly and got out quick...you can keep it.
That said taking city/town employees out to lunch and giving one of them a savings bond is NO BIG DEAL. The money spent on the lunch was money spent in the area. Food was sold, someone got paid to prepare it, and it is a very small token to the employees. Please note that it was a lunch. Many companies and municipalities have cut back on spending, not doing dinners which cost significantly more and are choosing to do lunch instead. This was a wise expense on the part of Cary. They didn't give multiple gifts, they gave one savings bond. A $1000 Savings Bond doesn't cost $1000. Think what you want about Cary. If you have a problem with the spending of tax dollars on the sports complex then say it. Believe me when I say there is tons of other stupid crap to address in Cary.
Folks who are getting your knickers in a twist about the alleged "Cary-bashing": IT IS SATIRE. It's in relation to another thread started by another poster who loves to post things just to cause ruckuses on here.

Exactly where does it say that "Taxpayer Money" was used?? I see that no where in the article. The Town of Cary spends A LOT of their own money on many items that the state has been unable to help fund such as road widening and construction. This may not have used any taxpayer money for all we know.

Ummmmm, aside from the fact that this is SATIRE which many people have missed, here's a question -- what "money" is Cary getting that's not taxpayer money? Are they paying for this with parking fine revenue? And you know it probably all goes in the same pot.
This is probably the most hilarious thread I have ever seen on city-data and I can totally understnad bluedevilz point in making it....but I can only see it causing MORE controversy. To the OP....don't feed the troll; you know he's only going to respond with 10 million new bogus fluff threads this week.
I have given this a lot of thought and after thorough investigation, I have decided that we have a case of multiple identities on CityData.
Obviously, bluedevilz, sneezecake, and Charleton Dude are all the same person and just churning for attention...
