Default legitimate donation centers

We are new in Morrisville area. We sometimes like to make small donations for the needy people. Like we did a small donations for the Raleigh Rescue Mission( for home less people). this valentine day. But we are not sure which organisations is the most legitimate. and donations are really reaching the needy people. Please share if anyone has any experience or info to share.
thanks

If you're interested in helping the homeless, I strongly recommend the Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network. It's a 501(c)(3) with very low administrative expenses. They have a phenomenally high success rate: 87% of all homeless families they helped last year had made into some kind of housing! Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network
