It seems to me that public vs. private school is a personal choice (assuming one has the money), so is it really necessary to pry?

And it seems to me this OP, to use the words of another CD'er, has no real clue what its like to live outside of NY, and wants, in a way to keep it that way.

Their choice, of course, but inquiring as to why public schools werent an option isnt a crime last I checked.

FWIW, a quick search of the Triangle MLS for older homes (pre-1960) over 7000 square feet with at least a 1 acre lot yielded only 2 results. Both are in Durham on about 2.5 acres each; one is in Hope Valley and the other is in Forest Hills.

You and I are on the same wavelength. I went to the Fonville Morisey website & looked for anything in the Triangle that has at least 7000 square feet & was built before 1980. Only 5 homes showed up. Two were kinda in the boonies (Roper & Louisville). The other 3 were in Durham - Hope Valley & Forest Hills. One of the possibilities in Hope Valley even has an indoor swimming pool. Personally, I love Hope Valley. In my opinion it is definitely one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the region.

When I expanded the search to anything of any age with at least 7000 square feet, I found just one property meeting that description within the beltline. The square footage is 7760, built in 2002 on just over an acre, Lassiter neighborhood, $3.5 million.

A lot of properties hit the market here in the spring as people prepare to move, so maybe there will be more options in a month or two.

I think most are just reacting to the fact that someone with that kind of wealth would resort to a public internet message board for information on relocating. If it were me, I'd hop on my private jet and spend a few weeks down here looking around. I don't see how it's possible to be overwhelmed when you can afford to pay for just about any help that you might need. 99.999999% of us can't possibly relate to what she might be looking for or what would be acceptable. I'm not saying she shouldn't have posted it, it's a free country, but there is some humor in it.
