Default Anyone relocate from the NC coast to the Southern Pines Area?

We are looking for a nice area to retire to, and have pretty much zero'd in on the New Bern area. However, concerns over hrruicanes, and hurricane property insurance costs have us taking another look.

We visited the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area about 4 years ago, and we liked the area in general, but were still drawn to the coast.

Additionally, I think the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area is hotter and more humid in the summer, and colder in the winter than the New Bern area.

So, we're wondering if any of you guys have relocated from the NC coast to the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area, and what your thoughts are about the change. + and - comments appreciated.

Thank you,.....marc
