I agree to avoid leyland cypress trees. They have a short life expectancy and can get a number of diseases, funguses, bagworms, etc.
I recommend green giant arborvitae or Nelly Stevens hollies. The former is slightly cheaper. Both are fast growing. The hollies are more of a cone shape and the arborvitae more closely mimic the look of the leylands.
You have been given some good advice already. A mixutre of plants including deciduous and evergreen will add depth to your landscape. The "marching soldier" look with one type of plant is old and tired and leaves you exposed should your plants get wiped out by disease.
