Is there a website for Wake County where I can find out if a street has been accepted by a town or DOT for maintenance?

I don't know of an online database, but here is where you can get a phone number to call and ask:

NCDOT Division of Highways: Secondary Roads (http://www.ncdot.org/doh/operations/secondaryroads/faq/ - broken link)

Yeah, but I have to check about 300 roads... they might not be too pleased with that phone call!

Default check the plat map

the way i check on residential searches is to pull up a plat map for the surrounding property -- the map usually will say if the road is public or private. if not you'll have to call. -- to get the map i would use address at wakegov - Real Estate Search ... the BM reference is at the top of the results page and on the deed link in the legal description.....or you can go on GIS too

If the roads are in Raleigh - ArcGIS Web Application

NCDOT has county maps - https://www.ncdot.gov/travel/statemapping/#Wake
And you can use the Secondary Road lookup tool to verify what the road numbers are on the map - https://apps.ncdot.gov/srlookup/

If it's something recent and might not have been updated on the map - you can look under the Division Engineer letters (one is issued every time NCDOT takes over maintenance of a road) - we're in Division 5
