I am interested in moving to the Granite Falls area. I found a home that we like in "Anchors Landing" and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the area and the sub-division there?

Hello,
Welcome to Granite Fall's. This is a nice little town, and close to the mountain's of NC. The people here are very nice. When will you be moving? You are just in time to see the Bradford Pear's and the dogwood's bloom. Cathy I have sent you a private message. |

We have been looking to move to Hickory after all the research etc. Last Thurs. we headed that way and WOW Hickory is bigger than expected so next on our list was Granite Falls...we knew it was smaller. WOW it's wonderful...my husband said he thinks he's found his home! A lake, golf courses, lil downtown with everything and if not Hickory is right down the road. We ate at Key West Fish Co. The food was excellent! Granite Falls is definately "The Place".
I know this was posted awhile back and wasn't sure if you've moved already or not, I was hoping you could let me know if you have, how it went etc. We won't be able to head that way till Fall as my lil sister's getting married this summer, but the house is up for sale and we've had a few viewings so...crossing my fingers and hoping to meet you all when we get there!! PS - It's snowing in MI! Misty |

GF has a lot going for it. Taxes are lower in Caldwell County than Catawba. Like you said about the lake and golf. Remember golf is year around for the most part but if it gets too hot you can be in the cooler mountains in less than an hour.
That construction on 321 is a new Walmart Supercenter. |

I'm soooo loving Granite Falls and NC all together right now....I came home to MI with a bird in my furnace and it wouldn't turn on so it was 60 in my house and SNOWING OUTSIDE!! My 6 yr old is TICKED since it's Spring Break! UGH! If I didn't have to stay here till fall, I would be packing the truck RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately my sister is getting married this summer..OK not unfortunately but you know! So I'm stuck till at least fall! I've read that it's better to move your child during the school year so they get more attention from the teachers then if it was beginning of the year when they have to share it with kids that know the schools. So that's my goal! Taxes are definately lower than here, we stopped by the Nascar Museum and talked to a lady there, told her what I pay for taxes and she almost fainted!
I'm upset with myself for not bringing my golf clubs now! I was planning on golfing when we got home...HA! Bettsnow - all the subdivisions in Granite are very nice, we drove thru a couple and they are like most places but smaller than what some would be used to! Very nice GREEN grass, I have MUD right now! I didn't take any pictures of the city but we walked around and there is the Library, a used book store, fashion shop, nails and as hapaleeretired said a new WALMART coming in!! LOL! |

They had the ground breaking last month and they are going great guns. I am sorry I don't know the schedule but it should be by the end of the year. Knowing Walmart they won't want to miss the Christmas season.
