Crappy. See all the threads about layoffs and job hunting. Some fields are better than others, but I think you guys would have a hard time.

I highly recommend the Woodcroft neighborhood in South Durham. Lots of pretty rolling hills and trees. The houses aren't brand-new, but they would be well within, if not under, your price range. We moved there last November and have loved it. We have no kids, but there are plenty around. Our neighbors are friendly and the area is quiet. I work at IBM in RTP (not too far from the EPA) and it takes me 10-12 minutes to get to work. There is so much in the way of shopping (Southpoint mall, strip malls and grocery stores) close by that it's almost ridiculous.

If that sounds interesting, you can search on Woodcroft in this forum and find several threads with more info. Good luck and congrats on the job and move!
