You can't beat the Shutter Production (shutterproduction.com). They are based in Rose Hill. They did our house in Wilmington but also came to Durham when we moved here. Best prices, highest quality. They make the shutters themselves thus no middle man.

I love my plantation shutters. They are permanent, don't fade, have tangle cords and the cats can't climb them!!!

Default Window casing

Do windows with casing complicate the installation of plantation shutters? Is it better not to have the casing if you're going to install shutters?

This is an old thread and so I wanted to ask which local companies do you recommend if you recently purchased shutters or blinds?

Thanks.

I've always had good luck with Southern Accent Shutters out of Clayton. They are made right there, so lead time is quicker. The owner of the company came to measure the windows, and give quote. A nice change from everyone else I talked to who needed time to get things from the factory in China.

No. The shutters are mounted completely inside the window frame.

We purchased our shutters from Classic Shutters and Blinds out of Cary. I got estimates from several places and they had the best price along with quality. Jason is the owner and he is awesome to work with. I highly recommend.

I love my shutters. Have had NO problems with dust or anything like that.

Kudzu - no, we haven't experienced any warping or other problems. We have 3" wood shutters.

I guess our plantation shutters are about 12 years old now and have shown no signs of wear or warping. They are wood and work excellent. We have them throughout the house.

We have all new windows and they would not fit "in" the window box with the window style, but they look fine on the outside of the frame and block out every bit of light when closed.

I snapped a quick picture sorry for the low quality (iPad Camera).
