I want to start a part-time consulting business. Real small (just me in my home) offering my knowledge and service for multiple topics. I would have clients come to my home for the consulting/tutoring session.

I would like to "advertise" my service via RL community bulletin boards, i.e. at a library or grocery store, etc. Does anyone know some locations where I could tack up a small flyer around North Raleigh? I posted at the North Regional and Greene Road Libraries already. Other there other places nearby?

Or I guess I could post on this site too... Is it allowed to post "advertisements" for small business on City-Data?

I can't speak for N. Raleigh, but I've noticed that here in Durham, there are very few 'community boards' in comparison to my former NE US residences. The one that I saw in the local Food Lion had a small one and they didn't continue allowing them. The only ones I've seen that do it on a regular basis are the libraries and they have strict time limit requirements on the flyers. Maybe you may want to try with the local recreation centers. Also, places of worship may have these boards, but may restrict its usage for their members. Some businesses will allow them if you ask. You'll usually see other flyers located in a certain spot. Try some high traffic individually owned places like take out restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

HTH!
