Default Anyone know about Tuscaloosa-Lakewood Neighborhood in Durham?

We are considering a move to that neighborhood and I was hoping someone could provide insight from personal experience of living in (or near) that area. Thanks!

I know they have a very active neighborhood association. Here's their website along with directions for getting on the neighborhood listserv. Plenty of contacts there for you I assume! Best of luck.

Don't know much 1st hand but I do know they have harassed a property owner for trimming trees that were hitting his roof. They harassed a merchant for displaying American Flags on July 4th. They sound like flakes to me.

I lived in that neighborhood for thirteen years and have a rental property there. The neighborhood association is very active, and that's a good thing when you live in the neighborhood. They keep an eye on landlords (like me) and let me know when the tenant is leaving trash in the yard, etc. I have not found them to be harrassing in the least.

This is a great neighborhood for many things: you can walk to three different neighborhood parks (Wrightwood, Forest Hills and Rockwood) which is great for walking the dog. I really miss that now that I am back in the country where you have to drive to take a walk. You can walk to Foster's Market, and you can get virtually anywhere in the Triangle in 20 minutes. It's a friendly, diverse neighborhood with all kinds of people and you really get to know your neighbors. It's a safe neighborhood in terms of physical danger, but just as in any downtown neighborhood you have to be careful about leaving pocketbooks or electronics in your car, and an alarm system is very helpful. It's not so much the alarm system, but the signs they give you that are valuable.

I have friends and clients who still live in the neighborhood, and love it.
