I noticed the bad quality with McCar homes
My husband and i are relocating to NC and we looked at so many houses and couldn't believe how beautiful they were and the quality. Especially in Heritage. But the houses weren't cheap. So after all day with the realtor we decided to go at it alone the next day and we found Stonegate.
The houses on the outside were GORGEOUS but once we walked in we could TOTALLY see the difference in quality. Everything seemed to be done cheaply. The molding, the floors, the rugs, the bathrooms. the houses were still nice but after seeing better quality homes we decided to pass on McCar homes.....thank god we did.
I am so sorry to hear what everyone is going thru!!!!

Funny
You know what is so funny, one of the sales agents for Heritage has purchased and now lives in a house at Stonegate because he believed that they had better quality for the money than Heritage. I am not sure what stage the house was in when you took a look there, but you really must see their "finished" product, b/c a lot of times when you see a house that seems finished, it is in fact still in need of the minor finishing touches. I think it says a lot about McCar though when a sales agent for Heritage chooses to buy a McCar home over a Heritage home, especially when you think of the discount he could have gotten there.

Quality of Mccar
We went to Stonegate and looked at finished homes. After looking at MANY in different communities we totally noticed the LACK of QUALITY in MCCAR homes!!! The rugs were cheapy, the wood floors what not what we have seen in other homes, the molding was cheesy and stopped in mid air and I can go on and on. We did not want to spend the same amount of money on a house like that when we could get high grade homes for the same price.
I met a few of the sales people at Heritage and they have told me that they don't want to live where they work.
I didn't mean to offend you in any way. We all have our own opinions and this is mine. But I did do research and heard about people having major problems with McCar and I chose not to even think of buying a house built by that company.

not suprised
Honestly I am not suprised by any of these comments. This is what happens when builders are allowed or choose to hire cheap, unskilled and usually illegal labor. When people start demanding quality are start walking away from these homes then things will change. You would be suprised how many other builders have these complaints against them.

So true.
The shoppers that buy this garbage keep it coming.
I just was dumbfounded that Centex would keep installing stairwell lights in a spot that you'd need to build a scaffold for bulb access.
Once the stupid mistake was reported, how much would it take to move the light to a side lamp halfway up the stairway. That could be serviced standing on the stairs without a ladder or anything.
All the customers seem to check is "glitz". If the place has a garden tub, who cares about the stupid design errors that will bite you again and again as long as you own the home.
Many customers are just severely lacking in common sense.

You hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately as long as these builders continue to use cheap labor from the illegals they will continue to produce inferior products.

unfortunately for those that have to change the bulbs, it is code to have a light at all stairwell landings. They typically are well out of reach(especially when you have a two story foyer!). You can have additional lighting halfway up but at the top of stairs it is required....along with an on/off switch at both the top and bottom of the stairs. common sense doesnt always play into the IRC lol.

My daughter's apt has a side mounted light at the center landing of the stairs.
All you do is reach to the right and change the bulb.
Seems to meet code and has 3 way switches at top and bottom.
