Senior Housing in Raleigh/Cary
Hi - my parents are moving down here from NH. They're both in their 80s and are not ready for assisted living BUT that's all there seems to be in the area. We live in Chapel Hill and really don't want to spend a lot of time driving but we seem to have no option.
Does anyone have any ideas of senior housing communites in Raleigh/Cary? We've looked at most - as I think since I've done so much driving these past few weeks. There's just not many. They would prefer to rent and in an area not too busy with traffic (my mom still drives) and close to grocery, pharmacy, walmart, target, etc...
Looking for your suggestions.

Don't know about Chapel Hill but I've taken quite a few out to Carolina Preserve in Cary/Morrisville area. You have to be at least 55 to live there but its "active adult" with their own pool, clubhouse, etc. Its not Assisted Living, at all. You actually purchase your own home. My clients bought one of the smaller homes for $250,000. Sorry but I can't remember how much the HOA dues were but they were somewhat costly.

My wife and I are friends with an older couple who used to live in Dunbarton (Durham 27707 off Hope Valley Rd). I believe it is all retirees and their HOA covers all the yard maintenance etc. I'm not sure if it was all retirees by chance or by some sort of rule. Anyway - there are about 10 listings in that subdivision. Not sure about rentals.
The couple's health has since deteriorated and they now live in Croasdaile Village
The wife has an apartment there and the husband, who requires more care, is in The Pavilion (skilled nursing section of Croasdaile).
Both of these are Durham and not Raleigh/Cary but hopefully this still helps.
